If you follow me on twitter (@raandomrachel) you'd know by now that I am sick... Yet again. I get sick very easily, as soon as I'm stressed or my immune system is low. BAM! Sickness again.
I've seen my doctor on numerous occasions but personally, I don't really like my doctor. All she says is that it's stress and I need to have more vitamins. Though I already have a lot of fruit, veggie, and extra vitamin tablets. But a bit more can't hurt can it?
So I was thinking what I could start having to boost my vitamin intake. Even if it's something really small. So what did I think of? Well, you can guess from the title: Smoothies
We've had frozen berries sitting in our freezer for ages and they're a bit over frozen to do anything other than smoothies with them. So.. Perfect!
Ingredients + Equipment:
-A blender or a stick blender (I used a stick blender)
-A cup
-A knife + Cutting board (optional)
-Berries (Frozen/thawed/fresh) [I used about a cup]
-Milk [I used about 1/2 a cup]
-Yogurt [I used 150g]
-Water [a little bit?]
We've got 'Frozen Fresh Mixed Berries' and some 'Fresh Frozen Raspberries'.
I had previously thawed some mixed berries and they were pretty much mush. I then chopped up some 'blocks' of the frozen raspberries and put them in the blending cup all together. All up I think it was about 1 cup. (I guessed the measurements of everything)
I then added the yogurt...
(At first I added only 1/2 the tub. But in the end I needed the whole 150g)
And then the milk!
Then start blending!!!
There are the before and after blending shots /\
As you can see the second photo the smoothie is still really dark and thick. You can keep it like that if you want (with only about 80g of yogurt) but I added the rest of the yogurt.
Next, just poor it into a cup to drink and...
Voila!
Enjoy your home-made Berry Smoothie!
Notes: I would have used low-fat or greek yogurt if I had any, unfortunately I didn't, so I decided not to title this 'healthy' homemade berry smoothie, since the yogurt was 'thick and creamy'.. Not healthy.
It would be much easier if you use a blender, but I don't have one sooo...
My smoothie did turn out very thick (but thats how I like it) if you like thinner smoothies, just add more liquids to your liking.
You could also add ice if you want. But I couldn't be bothered... haha.
This is my own improvised recipe, I didn't steal it from anyone and just guestimated the measurements :)
If you make this don't forget to tweet or instagram me! @raandomrachel (twitter) or @rachiiil (insta)
